Q : what if i have never done yoga before?

not to worry. hot yoga is a beginning level class. no matter what your experience with yoga, you will find the class rewarding and challenging. the teacher will take you through each posture step-by-step. our power yoga class is intermediate level so you should have prior yoga experience to attend

Q : what if i am not very flexible or very strong?

you don't have to be super flexible or very strong to join any yoga class. your flexibility and strength will develop with a consistent practice. you will see students of all levels participating in the same class

Q : what are the benefits of the heat?

there are two primary benefits of the heat. first of all, it promotes sweating which allows for deep detoxification. it also helps the muscles ligaments and tendons soften up so you can achieve a deeper safer stretch

Q : what if i have injuries or medical conditions (e.g., back problems or high blood pressure)?

a regular yoga practice can help heal old injuries and prevent new ones. make sure that you talk to the teacher before class to inform them of your concerns and discuss any modifications you should make. as with any new form of physical activity, you should always consult your doctor for more information

Q : how should i prepare for class?

please come 15 minutes before the class is scheduled to start to register. suitable attire is anything that you normally wear to the gym (shorts & tshirt or tanktop) as long as it's not too restricting and not too baggy. please do not eat for approximately 2 hours before class. and drink plenty of water all day long

we provide clean yoga mats & towels for your use in class. please bring water with you into class (we also sell water if you don't bring your own). we have locker rooms and showers (with body gel and shampoo provided) and fresh towels for your use after class, too

Q : what should i expect during class?

the class is 90 mins comprised of 26 postures + 2 breathing exercises. the teacher will guide you through all the postures. you just listen to the instructions and do your best

because the room is heated you may feel lightheaded or dizzy. this is very normal. you can take a break when you need to but we encourage you to stay in the yoga room for the entire class

you will sweat a lot so your body needs an adequate supply of water to allow perspiration to release heat from the body during class. please drink plenty of water all day long, before class

Q : and after class?

after the first class you may feel energized or you may feel a bit tired. once you start practicing more regularly, you will build strength and stamina. even as soon as the second class, you will start to tolerate the heat better and feel reinvigorated. and you begin to enjoy the heat. really!

drink plenty of water to replenish the water you lost during class and come again as soon as possible! the more consistently you practice the more your body becomes accustomed to the heat and to the challenge of class and the more benefits you will see!
