ABSOLUTE YOGA TEACHER BIOS

Jeanne Chung

Jeanne Chung

Jeanne Chung, the founder of Absolute Yoga Singapore, is a former investment banker turned yogini. From her very first yoga class, Jeanne was hooked. Further study was an unfolding of the power and beauty of the yoga path and Jeanne couldn’t help but share it. Jeanne became a certified yoga teacher and then moved from San Francisco specifically to open ABSOLUTE YOGA and share her passion for yoga with Singapore.

Jeanne is a certified instructor for Bikram Hot Yoga and Jivamukti Yoga, and her teaching style is influenced by her trainings with Baron Baptiste, David Swenson, Shiva Rea, and Erich Schiffmann. Her own teaching style has been blessed by the influence of all her teachers and is so grateful for all sources of inspiration and awe.

Colette Ward

Colette is from Lanarkshire in Scotland – that explains her funny accent!

After studying bodywork and complimentary therapy in Glasgow, she began her travels working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. On returning to the U.K. Colette was inspired by the health benefits of yoga and ayurvedic medicine through a doctor she met in London. She started a consistent Hatha and Iyengar yoga practise and discovered Bikram Hot Yoga in 1998. Colette became a Certified Bikram Instructor in 2001, teaching in Jersey (Channel Oslands) until she came to Asia.

Colette's teaching and practice is influenced by Iyengar yoga's form and alignment. At present she is studying ayurvedic nutrition which complements the yogic lifestyle. Colette is excited to call Asia home for a 'wee' while.

She had her first hot yoga class on a winter day in DC 6 years ago and finally realized what ‘being present’ actually means.

She pursued a career as a handbag designer in Singapore for another two years before embarking on her new journey as a yoga instructor at Absolute Yoga.

Andrea enjoys her fulfilling job and hopes to impart her knowledge to help you build strength, enhance flexibility and find inner peace in her grueling Hot C classes.

Bruce Chung

Bruce Chung

As yoga became an integral part of my life I noticed some deep changes: sharper concentration, increased discipline, more patience, I quit smoking, and most importantly, I began exercising more compassion for those around me.

Yoga was transforming my life in such positive ways that I decided to participate in the Moksha Yoga Teacher Training in Kerala, India in March 2008. It was life-changing, further deepening my understanding of self and yoga. The training helped me discover a joy for living I had never experienced. Yoga has shown me what a gift life is. It has helped me come closer to my purpose in life.

Emboldened with a new sense of self and direction, I severed my seven year tenure in the financial services industry to commit myself to yoga. The adventure continues as I left my home in Toronto, Canada, enthused to share the sense of peace and calm I have received, through the practice, with Singapore.

Theera “Knot” Anunkunprasert

KNOT first discovered Bikram Yoga when he was earning his Ph.D. in Material Sciences in 2000. The tough research work pressured him to find a peaceful path to relax and to step out of confined working environment. Since then, he cannot live his life, even a single day, without practicing Yoga. Knot is a certified Sivananda Yoga teacher. He has been teaching Yoga for 5 years, while he, from time to time, had special opportunities to practice Yoga with a number of experienced teachers like Bikram, Rajashree Choudhury, Emmy Cleaves, David Life, Sharon Gannon and Patrick Creelman. Knot recently extended his practice to Hatha Vinyasa Flow, he said “The power of thought is so powerful, because you think, so you are…” And here he is, a happy Yoga teacher with Absolute Yoga Singapore since late 2008.

Sally Phang

Sally Phang

Sally started learning yoga about 7 years ago and was inspired by the beauty of Yoga and its benefit that she had encountered ever since her first class. Teaching & practicing Yoga principles from different types of yoga from Hatha, Yin to Yoga Dance has given her an absolute change not only to physical development, but in self-awareness mentally as well as spiritually.

Sally has also been teaching Baby Yoga classes upon obtaining a Diploma Certification in October 2008. In Baby Yoga, we strongly demonstrate to parents that, we are doing yoga with their babies and not for the babies. Thus, this is a totally different way of connecting parents with their babies through touch, movement and voice as early as 2 months old.

Besides, I am delighted to coach and share my thought and knowledge by helping and encourage people to treasure & love themselves, and to be more pleasant, self-awareness, confidence, motivated & self-consciousness through many ways and practices of meditation, deep breathing and relaxation exercises.

Betty Kong

Betty Kong

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Betty found yoga during her university years. Overwhelmed with university life, yoga became her soul food. A minute into her first asana, child’s pose, Balasana, she instantly knew that she came to the right place. And ever since, she cannot go a day with practicing.

She is certified in the 500 hours Moksha Yoga Teachers Training and has studied Vinyasa and Yin yoga as well. Her mantra is to practice on and off the mat with truthfulness, compassion, and loving kindness towards oneself, all people, all animals, and mother earth. Each class is new moment and another opportunity to share and learn from her students. It has been an amazing and humbling experience. She hopes to continue on studying yoga for the rest of her life.
